Webb County has decided to place court case information for district and county courts on the Internet, and it can now be viewed at www.idocket.com.
County Clerk Henry Flores sees advantages to this technology.
"This multicounty docket service will be convenient and informative, allowing an opportunity for better knowledge and understanding for our citizens of the judicial system at work on a daily basis," Flores said.
An agreement between Webb County and iDocket will allow for the display of docket, index and other case items over the Internet at no cost to the county. Webb County joins a growing and progressive consortium of counties in the state to use the Internet for information distribution.
Attorneys, bondsmen and the general public in the community can now stay up to date on cases by logging onto the Website.
Each night, the court files are transported electronically to the iDocket server, then formatted and placed on the iDocket.com database. The database includes the court case information from all courts that are on the service.
Searches can be done across court or county jurisdiction and can be performed on name, attorney, offense, court, filing or disposition dates.
The public may access the database and perform name searches at no charge.
A subscription package, which includes advanced search capabilities and case histories, is available for a monthly or annual fee. The company offers a free three-day trial period for the subscription package.
iDocket.com is an on-line, Internet-accessible database that can be used to track cases filed in various Texas counties. Computer users now have desktop access to court records that users would normally be required to request by mail or retrieve in person from the courthouse.
